What to Expect During a Reading
When you book a reading I will send you a few short questions in order to help us focus on what is important to you at this time. I find this helps give the reading a good focus and makes the information I share important for you personally. There’s so much to every chart and while it’s all part of you, different things are important at different times.
The sessions work well as dialog. It is great if we get into a conversation and having questions come up during the session is great. I usually check in with you several times to make sure that you are feeling supported by the work and that it is resonating for you. I look to your chart and reflect what the planetary alignments both in your natal chart and in your current timing reflect. To get the most out of the session it is important for you to share and to listen. I record all sessions and will occasionally give you a timestamp so you can find a particularly dense piece of information easily so you can deeply digest it. It’s also good to make notes, if that doesn’t distract you too much.
My Natal Chart Readings are what people mostly book. What happens depends a lot on how you want to focus. Some people have an overall curiosity and many people especially repeat clients like a strong focus on the year ahead or some specific thing they want to work with at the moment, whether that’s relationships, career or anything that’s currently up.
I have spent years of developing myself spiritually, emotionally, physically and mentally and understand the basic structure of humanness and the ways we are all the same. Your astrological chart is very unique however. It’s like the architecture you have come in to work with and each person will deal with that differently. Astrology is a wonderful tool to see deeply. You can expect to get more comfortable with who you are, your struggles and your talents.
I also offer add on coaching packages where we meet for a few extra short sessions to enable you to work on something you would like to take deeper. I use the chart as a reference and help you take a matter deeper. I have had some good successes with shifting an area of life that has become stuck.
I use timing techniques specifically to help give you ideas on where to focus on at the moment. After a reading you will always know what areas are difficult and require work at the moment and which areas will expand easily at the moment. I rarely will tell you that something is going to happen at a specific moment. If you want a highly predictive, informational reading I am not the astrologer for you. If something intense is up at the moment the astrology is usually very helpful in unpacking that. If you have seen me before and something is up we can have a short session where we can unpack that specifically.
Because your natal chart anchors you very specifically into space and time the more accurate your birth time is the better information I have to work with. South African birth certificates do generally not have the time on them. If you were born in a hospital that is still in operation you will be able to get pretty good information from the hospital. Phone and ask to be put through to the labour ward. My experience is that the staff are delighted to hear from one of the babies who emerged into the world right where they are every day! And the record keeping and storage becomes more valuable for everyone! It is also possible to go to labor wards in person. The next best sources of your birth time are family members. Remember your mother was in labour and her last concern was what time it was! Please cross reference as much as possible. If anyone kept a scrap book or baby book, those are often good sources of information. Many countries in Europe and states in the USA have recorded times on the birth certificate.
If you cannot establish an accurate birth time a reading is still possible. The timing techniques become less precise. Charts readings without birth times are often somewhat shorter and will be more psychological in nature. Even the broadest outlines are useful. It is likely someone will remember if you were born during the day or at night.
I always spend some time preparing before the session. For this reason it is a very good idea to send me some questions that are up for you at the moment. The chart doesn’t always reflect this. For example your chart may be career focused and you want help with relationships. Letting me know beforehand focuses me on looking for ways to activate that part of your chart. Without knowing I would likely tell you that you have strong career possibilities! I am also comfortable with doing general readings, especially if it is your first time seeing me.
Clients often ask me when they can come back. There’s no hard and fast rule. I am able counsel and coach in a strategic and intuitive way. Sometimes it will become clear in a reading that you want to work on something and then it is perfect to have 3 or 4 more short sessions. In these cases you will often get some kind of assignment, and we will unpack the results in your next session and so on. I get good results with this and I am very comfortable telling you when I have imparted the information I can and it’s time for you to integrate before we meet again. In other words I don’t waste anyone’s time or money. In many instances it makes sense to come back in a year. If something comes up for you a few months after a reading a short reading is ideal to unpack the deeper meaning and help you integrate what happened. Astrological hindsight is 20 20!
If you have recently had an ‘event’ in your life, astrology can be very revealing. Especially if you are repeat client, it is great to check in for a short reading when something happens that you would like to make sense of. All my sessions are charged at my hourly rate, so half an hour is half the rate, and so forth.
I often read synastry charts during readings if relational stuff is up. Please ask people for permission to share their birth times with me. If you do not have this permission I will still look at chart intra aspects but it’s going to be all about you. I do not use a birth time for the other without permission which diminishes what I can see but respects privacy.
I am willing to look at children’s charts if your aim is to be a better parent for this similar, or alien creature, who you live with. While I regularly see patterns emerge in families, meaning you are working with similar psychological dynamics, I also see difference. Understand that since you are the adult, the reading will be aimed at helping you to take more responsibility in your role as a parent. I wish I had of been a better astrologer when my children were born butI still do find their charts very useful in supporting them in many ways.
Older clients are a great joy to the astrologer. They have lived into the chart and usually nod knowingly as we go in. For younger people it often does not make as much sense. On the other hand to get a heads up on where things are going and where you will have to put energy in, what will come easy and what you will have to work for is superbly useful for the younger client.
If you are launching a business venture, a website, getting married or have some other life event ahead, I am able to choose constructive elections charts to support you. Election charts cannot change your dharma but they sure can put some wind beneath your wings. In general the longer the time window I have to work with the better the chart I will be able to find. I have had great success with ongoing clients helping to time multiple actions as well as to get energy readings of specific moments. You can anchor something in time when you have control over the moment the event begins and here I would choose a moment for you, within a range and respecting your constraints. When you cannot control the time but you would like insight into how something will unfold, I can look at the chart for when, for example, an important meeting is scheduled. I am able to give very detailed information on that.
